I recently changed my baseboards from the standard 5/8’ to a one inch width. And, I LOVE THEM!
However, an unintended consequence of my decision to change the baseboards was damaging the door frame into my kitchen.
You see, appliances are built to fit through a standard door frame with a 5/8’ baseboard. When I changed mine to a one inch, appliances no longer easily passed through the doorway. We needed to lift the appliance above the baseboards.
Not sure if you’ve lifted a refrigerator lately, but they’re heavy. And we lost control it, scrapping the paint off door frame😬.
I had no clue that would’ve even need to be considered.
Every decision we make will have both intended and unintended consequences.
