I went to the coffee shop to focus. I set up – computer, books, notes, pad of paper and tea in hand – and as I got ready to jump into the work, it started.
The pinging of alarms, the banging and clanging of pots and pans, the slamming of doors, the shouting of orders, plus the multiple conversations from other customers at different volumes and pitches – it was chaos.
It was perfect! Just what I needed to focus.
What appeared to be distractions was actually white noise. Everything blended together allowing me to get dialled in on the work in front of me.
In a world of attention grabbers and chaos, there’s a way to use life’s distractions in your favour to be productive.
Find your white noise. Find your focus.
