Riding Shotgun

The other day I rode shotgun as my son drove; it was an interesting experience being in opposite seats.

At first I was uncomfortable in my new seat, I am used to driving. Being at the wheel. Being in “control”. And yet, as I watched my son behind the wheel I could see independence forming and his confidence rising. I realized my job all along was to trade seats with him.

As leaders, there comes a time when we move from the driver seat to the passenger because people are ready to take the wheel.
